Getting started as a seller on PostTive

Selling on PostTive4 min read

PostTive is a marketplace, which means you keep your own brand and inventory and we handle discovery, checkout and payments. This is what the process looks like from the seller side and what is worth preparing before you begin.

Before you register

Have your business details ready: registered name, GST registration if applicable, a bank account in the business name, and a contact number and email that you monitor. Registration is faster when these are to hand rather than gathered midway.

Think about your first ten listings before you start rather than listing everything you have. A small, well-photographed, accurately described catalogue performs better than a large, inconsistent one, and it is easier to learn the process on ten products.

What makes a listing work

Photographs carry most of the weight. Natural light, a plain background and at least three angles per product outperform studio effects. Buyers cannot handle the fabric, so photographs have to answer the questions touch would.

Descriptions should state fabric, measurements, care instructions and what is included. Vague descriptions generate returns, and returns cost more than the sale earned. Being specific about what a product is not โ€” not stretchy, not lined, not machine washable โ€” prevents more disappointment than any amount of positive description.

  • At least three photographs per product, natural light, plain background
  • Exact measurements, not just size letters
  • Fabric composition and care instructions
  • What is included in the price

Orders and dispatch

Orders appear in your seller dashboard as they are placed. Dispatch time is the single metric buyers notice most, and it affects where your products rank in listings. Setting a realistic dispatch window and meeting it consistently beats promising faster and missing.

Keep stock counts current. Cancelling an order because something has sold out elsewhere is the most damaging thing a new seller can do, and it is entirely avoidable.

Getting help

Seller support is available through the contact channels on the site. For questions about commission, payouts and settlement timelines, refer to the seller policy, which is the authoritative source and is updated when terms change.
